Development Director

The Development Director manages the development program at Victory Project (VP), including initiating, managing, and evaluating marketing, public relations, and philanthropic efforts. This role is pivotal in advancing VP’s mission, generating financial support, and fostering organizational growth.

Essential Functions:

Manages, plans, and oversees the agency’s fundraising program

  • Develops and implements strategic fundraising plans to ensure the growth of the organization’s financial resources.
  • Engages the board, executive team, program directors, and staff for input and support in fundraising campaigns.
  • Collaborates with community leaders, staff, and volunteers to execute charitable giving strategies, including public relations, direct mail, events, planned gifts, grant writing, and capital requests.
  • Maintains accurate donor records and prepares timely reports for the CEO, Board, and Development/event committees.

Plans, manages, coordinates, and oversees agency fundraising events

  • Plans and coordinates cost-effective and professional fundraising and promotional events, working with relevant staff.
  • Provides guidance, support, and resources for effective event management.
  • Documents resources utilized and financial outcomes of events.

Manages and oversees the public relations and marketing programs

  • Enhances program growth and public awareness through marketing and communications strategies in collaboration with the organization’s executive team and staff.
  • Ensures the distribution of accurate and positive information via printed materials, newsletters, social media, press releases, and public events.
  • Develops responses to media inquiries and advises the CEO.
  • Delegates and oversees public relations and marketing tasks assigned to staff or external services.

Collaborates with and supports the organization’s philanthropic engagement.

  • Partners with the volunteer coordinator by developing strategies to increase participation and enhance the organization’s mission in the community.
  • Works with the Volunteer Coordinator to develop and manage volunteer initiatives associated with fundraising.

Performs special assignments and projects

  • Completes special projects, such as building projects, board reports, annual reports, research, and grant support, as assigned by the CEO

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Business, Finance or related field with five years experience
  • At least five years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of non-profit organizations
  • Commitment to VPs mission and goals and knowledge of the Christian faith and Biblically-based teachings
  • Ability to present the organization’s purpose and programs to the public
  • Proven ability to fundraise
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license, access to dependable transportation
